We are thrilled and humbled to announce that Mohanlal, the undisputed king of Malayalam cinema, has agreed to take the leadership role in sponsoring the Ekadasadevis Mural Project.

Mohanlal was born in Elanthoor, Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, a state in
southern India renowned for a lush climate and unique temple design with
distinctive Kerala Mural Art. His film career began with the role of a villain, but
his talents have lead him to play a wide variety of characters in many different
types of movies, including comedy. He is one of the most talented actors India has produced, noted for his unique style of dialogue delivery. Mohanlal’s humorous line “Nee Po Mone Dinesha” has become an iconic Malayalam catchphrase, used to suggest a comic threat.

Mohanlal has been honored with many awards, including India’s highest civilian
honors, the “Padma Shri” and “Padma Bhushan”. The Sree Sankaracharya
University of Sanskrit conferred honorary doctorate for his contributions to
Sanskrit as a result of the success of the Sanskrit play, Karnabharam.

He won the National Film Awards 5 times: Best Actor for his performances in
Bharatham (1991) and Vanaprastham (1999). He produced Vanaprastham (1999), which won the National Award for Best Film. He was awarded the Jury’s Special Award for Kireedam (1989), and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (2017),
Pulimurugan (2016) and Janatha Garage (2016).

Today, he is busy as ever, having begun filming his 360th movie in April 2024. He is also a major collector and patron of traditional Hindu arts. In response to the major floods in Kerala of August 2024, he donated Rs 25 lakh (5 million dollars) to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. It is truly an honor to work with such a compassionate luminary.
